I have the same issue, but I have experience and everything installed. A workaround might be to plug in a Xbox one controller and leave it off to the side. I haven’t had the time to test it yet. I'm not sure if this will work for Steam controllers but I was having the same problem with my PS4 controller emulating as an Xbox controller. Just go into Big Picture, Far Cry 5, Manage Game, Controller Options, Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers - Forced Off. That fixed dpad and reversing for me.
I tried reinstalling verify files integ,PC restart. As seen in screenshots the fly is stuck in the air and wont reel in im using xbox controller. Anyone else got this issue it don't seem like it. I found out the problem, it was the trainer im using. So if you cheat in FC5 you may not be able to go fishing theres also the grapple glitch.
Use ds4windows by ryochan7 not the old one and make sure to install hidHide driver in the setup page when done go to settings and tick hide ds controller. I use it with my ps5 controller and works great.
1 is always pistols, 4 is always "bread and butter" (assault rifle) ALT is always crouch or sneak, mouse button 5 is always melee, mouse button 4 is something relating to specialized gear (fire mode for gun) Everything by this point has become muslce memory. Mouse and Keyboard. It's how FPS games are meant to be played.

I don't really know if it works, but i'll tell you that, even on the lowest difficulty setting, this is a suicide: you really need to place quick accurate shots in this game, else you'll quickly die. If really can play with a controller i'd like to hear abouit the experience.
